The Alpha Phi Foundation in Support for Cardiac Care

Did you know that only 13 percent of women view heart disease as a health threat, even though it is the #1 killer of women? In 1957, The Alpha Phi Foundation in support of Cardiac Care was formed to help women worldwide. Research in the diagnosis and treatment of woman's heart disease is a special interest of the Alpha Phi Foundation. With its large presence in the Cardiac Health world and even the White House, the Alpha Phi Foundation is working to aid researchers to one day find a cure for heart disease. George Mason University’s Alpha Phi chapter is no different. Every semester, the sisters of Alpha Phi hold a philanthropic event. These events include:

  • Cardiac Arrest: a jail and bail fundraiser
  • Hoops for Hearts: a three-on-three basketball event
  • PHI’ESTA: a wing eating competition
  • King of Hearts: an all-male talent showcase
  • Red Dress Gala: an event held to raise money for the Alpha Phi Foundation

    • Save the Date! The 2012 Red Dress Gala will be held on the 21st of April.

Alpha Phi raises thousands of dollars at each of these events and 100% of their proceeds go directly to the efforts of the Alpha Phi Foundation.

The Eta Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi has won the Philanthropy award in the GMU Greek Community several times. We are also the recipient of the George Mason University all-campus 2006
Community Service Award.
